MISSION STATEMENT

Virginia Montessori Academy aims to provide an authentic Montessori experience; inspiring the growth of the whole child by providing a safe, secure, and loving environment. Our Program allows for individualized education that builds a love of learning and promotes independence that prepares the child for success in their adult lives. We consider the emotional, intellectual, physical, and social development of the whole child by following the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori.

VISION STATEMENT

Virginia Montessori Academy offers a quality Montessori program to local families. We want to share the love and confidence we have in Dr. Montessori’s methods. We believe that by providing the proper foundation, children can grow into positive, independent members of the community.

CORE VALUES

We believe that all children deserve to develop in an environment that is nurturing, safe and intelligent. We believe in working hand in hand with parents/families. Parents are their children’s first teachers and we are a system of support. A cooperative relationship between home and school can contribute to the success of a child. We believe the adults in our school community are role models. The adults at VAMA model respect for themselves, others, the environment, and the community around them. We are here to guide the children in independence, critical thinking, problem-solving techniques, social grace and courtesy as well as respect for all.

We believe that every member of our community has a fundamental right to be treated with respect regardless of age, gender, ethnic origin, sexual preference, religion, race, or disability. We strive to provide a loving, diverse, and peaceful environment in which to learn. We strive to ensure that children are respected and accepted as unique individuals.

PROGRAM GOALS

Virginia Montessori Academy offers educational programs for toddler and primary age groups. The Montessori approach gives children the freedom to learn in a nurturing environment that is carefully prepared so that each child can reach his/her full potential. Independence is encouraged and supported by providing age-appropriate materials and child-sized furniture. Offering a carefully prepared environment to ensure children have all the tools needed for success.

Spanish

Children exposed to foreign languages have better brain development and are more creative than others because they develop superior cognitive patterns than those limited to only one language. Research shows that learning a second language improves memory, focus, multitasking abilities, problem-solving, critical thinking and listening skills.

Art

Art enrichment classes play a vital role in fostering creativity and self-expression among young learners. These classes offer children the opportunity to explore various artistic mediums, from painting and drawing to sculpting and collage-making. Engaging in art activities helps develop fine motor skills, enhances cognitive abilities, and encourages problem-solving and critical thinking. Art enrichment nurtures emotional growth by providing a safe space for children to express their feelings and thoughts visually.
